Tiny house tour: In this episode of our tiny cabin project, Charles explains how to use a denatured alcohol burning fireplace and why you should. Firstly, these alcohol burning kits are widely available online such as on amazon, eBay, harbor freight, menards and in some DIY stores. They have an array of prices and designs you can choose from. Their technology is very simple. the main part of the fireplace is the insert which holds the fuel (denatured alcohol) in a wicking material that allows it to burn slowly. some come with fake ceremic logs and fancy fireplace houseings, but the inserts can be used by them selfs or in a suitable container of your choice. We chose to put our insert into a ceremic chiminea from minards.
The main purpose for these is an alternate heat source. In our house, the fireplace will keep our living area at a comfortable 60 degrees with no other heat source active. denatured alcohol is cheap and provide a great alternative to wood.
If your not so much concerned with the prepper aspect of this, these fireplaces provide your home with a beautiful ambiance that will set the tone for a romantic evening!
